- Seafarers tend to spend a lot more when they are on leave: As they are back from the ship, they tend to spend more on family as that the time they are with their families. Also with friends and relatives, there is an expectation that you will spend when you are there around.
- Seafarers generally are bad investors: It is not very true with the younger generation as they have a very short outlook on merchant navy as a career however seafarers always will be in demand and hence they feel they can invest less or take very high risk investments.
